Tra Vinh province has issued a decision approving the investment policy and approving the investor, Vietnam Electricity Group, to implement the Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant expansion project.

On December 18, information from the People's Committee of Tra Vinh province said that it had issued a decision on approving the investment policy, and approved the investor, Vietnam Electricity Group, to implement the Duyen Hai 3 Thermal Power Plant expansion project in Truong Long Hoa commune and Dan Thanh commune, Duyen Hai town, Tra Vinh province.
The project's objective is to supply and overcome the power shortage in the Southern region in the coming time, making an important contribution to the development of the Mekong Delta; increasing the proportion of thermal power compared to hydropower, in order to proactively reduce the power shortage in the dry season, contributing to ensuring the safety of power supply for the national power system.

Land use area, sea surface over 610,583m2 , of which land use area 410,260m2 , sea area 200,322m2 .
Investment capital of over 22,774 billion VND, 100% state capital. Project operation period is 30 years from the date of first investment registration certificate.
Tra Vinh Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Planning and Investment to monitor the implementation, supervise and evaluate the contents specified in the decision approving the investment policy, and at the same time approve the investor.
Vietnam Electricity Group is responsible for complying with the provisions of law on investment, planning, land, environment, construction, labor, fire prevention and fighting, and other relevant provisions of law during the project implementation process.
