Lao Cai: Proactively producing and supplying quality seeds

Seeds are identified as a key factor in agricultural and forestry production, especially for rice, fruit trees, forestry trees, livestock and aquatic products of high economic value. Recognizing this, Lao Cai province has implemented many solutions to proactively produce and supply quality seed sources.

By July 31, 2025, the whole province had produced and supplied 202 tons of rice and vegetable seeds of all kinds; 125,000 temperate fruit trees; 70,000 tissue-grown banana trees for production linkage projects; 1.4 million fingerlings and fingerlings of all kinds; and artificially inseminated 1,500 cattle and buffaloes.

In recent times, Lao Cai province has promoted research and conservation of genetic resources; selected and created varieties of rice, fruit trees, medicinal plants, vegetables and aquatic species. The province has also maintained production and supply of varieties according to plan; implemented high-tech application projects; and cooperated in testing varieties with centers, research institutes, and units inside and outside the province.
